The District – Boracay - by Chloe Ting of chloeting.com
Welcome to The District – Boracay! Today’s blog post is a quick share and a review on my stay at The District in Boracay. Before jumping into the Boracay itself, let me give you the most important tip if you’re planning a trip there: Book an early flight!

There are hourly flights from Manila/Cebu into Caticlan Airport (which is a quick 5 minute boat ride across the island), however the airport landing strip is small and flights often get diverted if there’s bad weather, so if that happens you might get your flight diverted to Kalibo Airport. That’s a good 1.5 hours away so you might easily lose half a day of planned beach activities if you decided to fly in around lunchtime but got unlucky with these circumstances. Anyways, I’m telling you this because that’s exactly what happened to me haha! Was booked to fly in at 11:15am and be checked into the hotel by 1pm latest and have a good 5 hours or so to do daytime activities, but ended up reaching at 5:30pm or so and missed out on some valuable hours.

Anyways, once I landed and got my luggage, was picked up by staff from The District and chauferred into a comfy van for a short 3 minute van ride from the airport to the jetty. I then jumped onto a private boat just for hotel guest for a further 5 minute boat ride that took me across from Caticlan to Boracay Island. Once we got off the boat, we then jumped into another van as we drove pass the main back streets and do keep your eyes open for Talipapa, which is a marketplace selling fresh seafood which nearby restaurants can cook you an amazing meal for a cheap price (you do have to bargain heavily).

It was a longer ride but interesting nonetheless as you get a glimps into a more laid back islander life and once we got closer we had to walk up to the beach as it’s a no vehicle zone. After enduring a long delay at the airport, I was so happy to hear the crashing of the waves on the beach and was so happy to see the shore so close to my hotel! Here’s a view from the balcony so you can see how close to the shore it is.

As I arrived, I got greeted by these 2 wonderful hosts with some refreshing calamansi ginger tea and shown to my room. As I said above, by this time it was getting dark so I went to watch the sunset. You definitely have to just sit and take in the sunset scenery when you’re here, it’s just absolutely beautiful and the atmostphere’s great cause everyone else beside you’s doing the same haha. I do recommend getting on a sailboat just before sun set and watching it from a sailboat as well.

Anyways, enough rambling about how I got there and my other thoughts, but let me give you my review on The District. Firstly, staff here are really helpful and friendly. Could have never found the infamous calamansi muffins or Jonas Milkshakes without them haha. Next, I really love the location of The District cause it’s right in the middle of Station 1 and 2, which is where all the hot spots are, and it’s not too far either from Talipapa which is a must-go.

They also have a wonderful Filipino daily breakfast and I also enjoyed a very nice dinner on their balcony overlooking the beach. I also tried their Shisha while having some cocktails, because why not! Was quite impressed with their extensive Shisha menu, am quite a newbie to these things. So many flavours!

Finally here are some pictures of their room and pool. I had quite an enjoyable stay and only dipped into the pool once. One thing I like is that they’ve got tons of electric sockets and converters ready for travellers like us who have a billion things to charge each night. Also, never had any problems with mosquitos as I believe they do spray repellents and take care of the rooms as I could smell some of it faintly. It wasn’t unpleasant or anything and there’s also heaps of spray on mosquito repellent which I might have used excessively before I went out each day haha.

Anyways, sorry about the long post today, got a little too excited reliving the experience. Definitely will be back in Boracay again at some point, probably after giving Palawan Island a try. Thank you The District for a comfortable and satisfying stay 🙂
