I was with my favorite travel buddies in the world on an impulse trip. Feeling the urge to be in Boracay, we booked an overpriced airfare for the long weekend (we splurge like that sometimes). We’ve perfected the no-itinerary-kinda-trip so for this trip we had no beach activities, no island hopping and no nothing. And The District Boracay was our home during this lazing around trip.
It’s my fourth time to visit the most famed island beach destination in the Philippines. With all the developments that’s happening within the island, you’d think that people would consider looking out for another paradise which they would refer to as the Boracay of the north or the west or the south. But no, nothing could replace the island. Maybe because it’s one of those places that you hate to love, a guilty pleasure of some sort.
It was a long weekend and the island was packed with beach-hungry tourists in spite the supposedly wet season.
Hi Ms.Carla, I need to confirm your time of departure so that we could arrange the airport transfer… Everybody seemed to know me by my name. Luxury, convenience and personal service at its best; that was The District Boracay that lingered on me till now.
The District Boracay is strategically located at Station 2 (around twenty strides from D’Mall). Feeling sluggish from two nights of partying, we were treated with cold towels and lemongrass iced tea when we arrived. This luxury beachfront resort will be our home for three days.
The swift check-in process was flawless and efficient. All meal and transportation arrangements were settled upon registration. The resort provides shuttle service to and fro Caticlan Airport from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm – very convenient. Complimentary canvas bags were also provided. Perfect for beach frolicking.
Billeted on a Deluxe Queen Room, our group of five settled on neighboring rooms located at the ground level. I was thinking if we should transfer to connecting rooms but that would be an implied riot within the group.
Moving on, I opened the glass door to my assigned room and was surprised on how huge it was. I immediately spotted the three identical artworks that adorned one of the walls. The color of which was on hues of red and black that was perfectly set against the brownish earth tones of the room.
The two queen-sized beds were luring us with its fluffy and comfy duvet and pillows. I didn’t wanna rest at that time for I know I would fall into a deep slumber.
The open-type wardrobe closet provided an airy feel to the room. It actually made the space spacious. It was also well-furnished with a separate work station, mini-bar, coffee and tea-making facilities, in-room safe, bath robes and beach umbrella.
And oh, I almost forgot that there’s a flat screen T.V. which we didn’t get to use ‘coz hey, you won’t need it when you’re on a holiday right?
The shower area and toilet were on different end corners of the room which converged on the vanity mirror and wash-handbasin. As with the wardrobe closet, the open-type wash area was well-suited as it opened up the space more. Toiletries were all provided for including insect repellent and sunscreens, such a cool treat.
I went to our own private veranda fronting the swimming pool and realized that a cup of coffee would be just perfect. So I prepared my coffee and glanced over at the tempting pool. After my very granny coffee break, I headed to the pool area and took a quick dip and then went to the jacuzzi area at the far end of the pool.
My solitary affair was interrupted when some of my friends joined me. And then we moved to the beach and chilled at the beach loungers – people-watched most of the time.
We headed to the rooftop bar where we enjoyed the complimentary cocktails and drinks. We didn’t catch the stunning Boracay sunset though, but we enjoyed the endless chitchatting about travel and everything in between.
Our Boracay party crawling started after dinnertime and ended in the wee hours of the morning. Sure enough, we all didn’t wake up in time for the complimentary buffet breakfast so we opted for the brunch buffet. Star Lounge at The District Boracay is famed for serving the Best Brunch Buffet in Boracay which is perfect for oversleepers like us. I will dedicate a separate post on this.
The cycle went on as our group lazed around the next day with the bar hopping set later at night. The resort’s convenient location came in handy as I easily crawled back to my room after our crazy night-out.
Our flight schedule was early in the morning and gladly, the resort provided breakfast packs before we head to the airport. The airport transfer was really really convenient.
It’s easy to set a high level of expectations when you’re in a luxury resort because hey, luxury stays cost you a pretty penny. But what’s noteworthy about The District Boracay is the personalized service they provide to their guests. They know me by name and everything that you need (or probably don’t realize that you need) will be offered to you in no time (or ahead of time). Unparalleled and unrivaled. They set the bar fairly high in the league of luxury accommodations.
