Various Municipal Ordinances are in place to protect Boracay’s White Beach. As a friendly reminder, all tourists are expected to take part in the preservation of the island and its White Beach by following local rules and regulations such as:
- Municipal Ordinance No. 98-116 – prohibiting pissing and defecating in public areas
- Municipal Ordinance No. 2000-132 – regulating activities along the White Beach
- Municipal Ordinance No. 246 – regulating sand castle making on the beaches around Boracay Island
- Municipal Ordinance No. 309 – amending Municipal Ordinance No. 272 series of 2009 on the Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance
- Municipal Ordinance No. 310 – amending Municipal Ordinance No. 141 series of 2001 on the banning of extraction and collection of white sands and pebbles in the beaches of Boracay Island
- Municipal Ordinance No. 311 – prohibiting littering, dumping, throwing of garbage, trash, rubbish, refuse, and other waste materials and prescribing penalties for certain acts and omissions inimical to cleanliness and sanitation
- Municipal Ordinance No. 319 – prohibiting or clutching of glass bottles of any beverage in the beaches of Boracay Island and prescribing penalties thereof
- Municipal Ordinance No. 331 – regulating fire dancing shows in Boracay Island and providing penalties for violation thereof
- Municipal Ordinance No. 362 – regulating the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones for recreational purposes or otherwise and prescribing penalties for violations thereof
We call on everybody to share in the preservation of the island and to be responsible tourists. Boracay is so precious and beautiful, and our future generations deserve to enjoy this little piece of paradise too.
