As part of its weeklong Fun Festival, The District Boracay held its first ever Tree Planting Activity last September 25, 2019 in the nearby forest area of Brgy. Nabaon, in mainland Aklan, around 30-minutes from Caticlan Jetty Port.

Key management and staff of The District Boracay, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), participated in the activity. Two protected areas approximately 4 kilometers from the base were covered by the group, planting over a hundred narra seedlings.

The staff and management of The District Boracay dedicated their off duty hours for a great cause.

Narra, which is also the Philippines’ national tree, can grow up to 30-meters in height in about 4 to 5 years. It is also classified as vulnerable to extinction in the Philippines.

The location is at the forest area of Brgy. Nabaon, a 2 hour trek from the base.

Narra helps the land when hit by floods or erosions. The more trees, the better off the land is.

The District Boracay will be having an annual Tree-Planting activity from hereon, as part of its eco-efforts and its commitment to sustainable tourism.
