There is one basic rule that all tourists must remember: to leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories. The same rule applies in Boracay, a premier beach destination famous for its crystal clear blue waters and powder-like white sand beach. To keep the island pristine, clean-up drives are regularly held here especially during the rainy season from June to October when debris are being washed ashore due to strong waves.
The District Boracay did its share and spearheaded a beach clean-up early August after a week of continuous rain due to habagat or southwest monsoon. Adhering to safety protocols and minimum public health standards, the team was able to cover Stations 1 to 3 of the White Beach. Trash collected were turned over to the island’s Materials Recovery Facility for proper segregation and disposal.
Everybody is encouraged to take part in the preservation of the island, and to be responsible tourists. Familiarize yourself with the local ordinances implemented in Boracay and make sure to follow them. To know some of the island’s rules and regulations, click here.
