Adulting can sometimes be tiring and overwhelming, that’s why jump at every opportunity for a holiday. This allows us to recharge, relax, and to get some deep and uninterrupted sleep! There are some extra steps that we can actually take to help our body tune in and sleep easier or better – and these come in handy when on a vacation.
Morning Grind
It doesn’t hurt to take half an hour out of our day to exercise early into the day. Doing this not only keeps your blood pumping and your energy at its peak, but this also helps us spend more energy in the day. Not to mention it can reduce stress which can help you go into deeper sleep. It is definitely a plus point if your hotel has a gym – or is accessible to an area where you can do your morning routine (like The District). You’ll have no excuse to skip your morning run, pool exercise or some weight lifting.
Eat Healthy
For most cases where health is related, healthy eating just makes sense. Having a balanced diet will not only help you get some Zs but even add in those extra hours. Fruits and vegetables are the best options but there are actually lots of food that’s good for you. Check out one of our new restaurants, House Brew Café, which offers healthy and tasty meal options for all.
A Hot Shower
After a long day on the beach or doing activities, a good thing to really look forward to is a hot bath. Taking a good steamy shower can help your body relax and ease into falling asleep quicker since a fast drop in temperature can trigger your needed sleepiness. So the next time you want to be refreshed and get better sleep, hop on to a hot shower before you head into your chilly room.
No Phone
This one has more to it than it actually seems. Using your phone while trying to get some sleep is actually harder because of the light. Exposing your eyes to the light on today’s smartphones in fact tricks your brain into thinking it’s not yet time to sleep. In other words, simulating daylight. So the next time you wanna get better sleep, just leave it on the nightstand.
Trying to doze off can actually be a breeze especially on a vacation when you’re tired and in need of sleep. But in some cases where that isn’t the case, getting the optimum conditions that’s favorable to you is best. This includes adjusting everything from temperature down to the number of pillows on the bed. So make sure to set your room to the right temp or dim the lights to get your body in the mood to sleep. Of course – choosing the perfect accommodation is your first step to ensure you’ll have the most relaxing vacation.
