Ways a tourist can help preserve Boracay Island

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malay, in partnership with private establishments in Boracay, has taken the lead to ensure the preservation of the island of Boracay. In September of 2010, the LGU launched its “Boracay Beach Management Program” which focus on 7  key areas. These areas are: Watershed Management, Water and Wastewater Management, Coastal Resource Management, Solid Waste Management, Hazard Prevention/Drainage Flooding, Education, Information and Communication Advocacy, and Governance.

The District Boracay strongly supports this initiative by ensuring that all its guests are aware of the local ordinances that would promote the preservation of the island.  A “We Love Boracay” card is placed in every room, in the beach area – and even in its vehicles to spread the word, and to encourage every guest to be a responsible traveler.
