Boracay Island is once again named one of the Top 25 Beaches in the World!
“Calm, warm waters, gently sloping sand, very relaxing, possibly the most beautiful beach in Asia”. This was how TripAdvisor described Boracay Island after it published their annual pick of the best beaches. Voted by the travelers themselves, Boracay ranked top 24 all over the world and the top 2 in Asia.
One reviewer supported the award, saying that the beach is fantastic for swimming and the white sand perfect for long walks.
Boracay is a consistent placer in the list. It ranked 12th in 2016, 7th in 2015, 19th in 2014, and the year goes on.
This small island located in the northern tip of the larger Visayan Island of Panay is located south of Manila. It is accessible via a 60-min plane ride to Caticlan or Kalibo Airport. Caticlan in Malay, Aklan is the more popular and convenient route. It is only 30-mins away from Boracay. You will need to take a 5-min drive to the jetty port and a 10-min boat ride to the island. Kalibo Airport on the other hand is the farther route, it will take 2 hours to get to the island from here.
The island is divided into three barangays: Yapak (north), Balabag (center), and Manoc-manoc (south).
Its famous 7-km White Beach- found in Balabag has 3 sections – Stations 1, 2, and 3. Station 1 is the quietest part of the white beach while Station 2 – the center – is the busiest. The least developed area is Station 3. Aside from the white sand beach, Boracay also offers exciting land and water activities, unlimited dining options, spectacular night-life, and world-class resorts – like The District Boracay. It is, after all, Asia’s 24/7 island.
